Course Length: Approx. 3.5 km - fun event with a handicap system to see who is this years Club Champion
Organiser: Brian Power
The annual Setanta Club Champs will take place on 5th September (start 2:30 to 3:00) on a new map near the Wicklow Gap (Glashaboy Brook). This is both a competitive and fun event. All club members and aspiring club members are welcome. Bring the family too!
Barbeque afterwards at approx. 4:00 pm in Tuttys Pub, Hollywood, Co. Wicklow (Continue west on R756 from event). So If you can't make the run, come for the barbeque. We hope to have a short informal Club AGM in Tutty's also, at about 5pm.
We would love to see as many members as possible at the event and the afters.
To help with arrangements (maps, food, etc.) it would help to have an idea of numbers - an email to Brian Power would be appreciated in advance. Hope to see you there on 5th Sept!

Club Champs Report From Brian
Setanta seems to be the only club that runs an annual "Club Champs" for members only. While this sounds somewhat competitive, it really is only a bit of fun and an excuse to get together in a pub and have a bbq after a short run in somewhere nice. Of late we have also combined this annual outing with a short AGM. How else would we get a quorum of members together to render an account of our previous years activities?
This year the fun run was at Glashaboy Brook, near the Wicklow Gap. This is a new map (well some of it was new), being an extension of the Fair Mountain map, in the direction of Annalecka Bridge. The St. Kevin's Way runs from one end to the other. This is part of a somewhat muddy and neglected ancient route that runs from Glendalough to Hollywood in West Wicklow. And where better than Tutty's in Hollywood to end the day with a barbeque and a few drinks?
Well back to the serious business of the Championships. There was a single 3.5 km course with a somewhat arbitrary handicap system to ensure that all (except previous winners) had a fair chance of having the honour and glory of being this years "club champ". As can be seen from the results above, this years award went to Tony Doolin. Well done to Tony and to all who took part and enjoyed the fresh air, the fun of the run and most importantly the get together in Tutty's afterwards.
