Event Details
Rogaining is a sport of long distance navigation on foot for teams of two or more. The object of the sport is to score points by finding checkpoints located within a specially mapped area and inside a specified time. As checkpoints can be visited in any order, strategy and teamwork are important features of the sport as well as endurance, stamina and navigational skills, with night navigation a key element. We also hope that you’ll find the time to stop and admire the views of this beautiful part of Ireland.

The terrain is mainly open moorland with large tracts of planted coniferous forest. The map to be used for the event is the new Harvey’s 1:30000 map of WickIow. Competitors must supply their own maps. A central Event Centre will be manned from 8pm on Saturday until the event finishes on Sunday. Hot food will be available at this time. A sleeping area will also be provided.

The winning team will be determined by totalling the number of points scored less any penalty points accrued for over-running the cut off time. In the event of a tie, the higher placing shall be awarded to the team that finished earlier. Competitors must take part in teams of two or more and all competitors must be at least 16 years of age on the day of competition. No individual entries will be accepted.

Entry fee of €20 per competitor must accompany the entry form.

All correspondence will be by email unless S.A.E is enclosed with the entry form.

Further event information, including rules and compulsory equipment list can be obtained on our website. www.setantaorienteers.org/rogaine or you can email rogaine@setantaorienteers.org with any query. Owing to the severity of the event, each entrant will be vetted for age and experience and the organisers reserve the right to refuse entries from persons who are considered to have insufficient experience. The organisers reserve the right to cancel or combine courses depending on numbers.
