Dublin by Night at Massy's Estate (16th Jan 2010)
The snow melted away and a typical winters night greeted the runners at our night event this year. It's been four years since we ran an event in Massy's Estate and it was a joy to get back to this area again. A couple of loops and sharp changes of direction were planned on the courses to give competitors some food for thought and good running through these beautiful small woods. Ruaidhi Short took the honours on the long course with our own Kevin O'Riordan having an excellant run to take a good second ahead of vet Senan O'Boyle who also took some big scalps to take third. GEN junior Jonathon Quinn (with his dad in a distant tow) came first on the short course. The event seemed to be very well received by all with a fair sprinkling in the pub after for a post race scoop. Dave Weston was planner and was ably assisted on the night by Denis Deasy. Jim Mulrooney and Andy O'Mullane (GEN) took in the controls.
Night orienteering is great fun, maybe some more of us can dust off the torches and try the rest of the series starting next saturday night at Barnaslingen. Hopefully see you there.
