Wine and Choc O
The Wine and Choc-O was successfully organised and run by Denis Deasy. The event was held in Kindlestown and was for members and their families It has a mainly social aspect, allowing friends to catch up, and for new members to get to know some of the more established or perhaps "mature" members. Chatting and catching up took place while Denis dodged the walkers and bikers while putting out the last few controls and hiding goodies in the brambles.
It was a mass start, which allowed a variety of route choices to get that first prize. Denis made the event more interesting by attaching clues to the control, i.e.; a compass bearing which had to be followed and a distance which had to be paced out. It was good fun for children as there was lots of searching in the undergrowth.
After the event we all retired to the plush surroundings of the Glen View Hotel, where we got the chance to sit down and have some food and a drink. Good fun was had by all, and plans were made to continue on the fun in Dublin. But I wouldn't know about that, I drove a car load of tired little orienteers home and put them to bed. Some other adult might continue the remainder of the saga.
Regards and thanks again to Denis for a well run and clever event.
